Autumn Decor

Looking through the blogosphere I was inspired to decorate the apartment for autumn. Unfortunately I went shopping when it was 80 degrees outside, so I really had to think hard about the blog posts I'd seen. I didn't go all out, but I did manage to come home from Cost Plus World Market with a couple of nice items that make the place seem a bit more cozy.

I was especially in the market for new throw pillows for the couch, so that's where I focused most of my shopping time. While World Market has a number of great options, I felt like they were all a bit fancier than I was looking for. In the end, I settled for three velvet pillows to replace four of the pillows on our couch that had seen better days. (Yes, I still need to remove the tags.)

  1. Part of me wants to to decorate for the seasons, but I always worry about storage for the fun stuff during the rest of the year. I like the things you've chosen - they bring in just enough of the season without being in your face ;)

  2. I bought the little ceramic gourds last year for Michelle's (the236) mantle decor challenge and they store away quite easily when not on display. I needed new pillows for the couch, and the orange and yellow velvet go well with the pillows I already had on hand, so I don't feel like I bought them specifically for the season ... it just happened to work out that way. I'll probably throw the potpourri out once it stops smelling, right in time to fill the hurricane with cinnamon pine cones. Otherwise, everything I had on hand already. I just wish it actually felt like autumn.

  4. Alan got it for me for Christmas at Marshall's. We went there to go shopping for other people and it was the only cute thing in the store. I made him stand in line for me. :-D
