We visited Paris for a week in February 2008 to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We used reward points to book our hotel in the 8th arrondissement - by no means a tourist area, but good for us because it was free. In addition to roaming the streets of Paris, visiting museums, and searching out good food, we made a couple of day trips to Versailles and the Loire Valley to visit the chateaux. While there, I found the trip to be much more difficult than our previous visit to Rome because of the language barrier, but in hindsight it was less problematic than it felt at the time. Now I'm obsessed with the idea of going back in the coming years, and doing all those things that we didn't get to do, or revisiting our favorites.
TRIP DETAILS
- Timing: Six nights in February 2008
- Flight: Northwest Airlines: SFO > Detroit > CDG > Detroit > Las Vegas > SFO (It's a good thing NWA has gone out of business because if they hadn't, I'd be ranting and raving on every travel site known to man encouraging people not to fly this airline due to poorly maintained planes and even worse customer service.
- Hotel: Hotel Saint Augustin Elysees (was part of Best Western when we stayed, but seems to have changed management)
