Alaska Day 4: Idaho Inlet & Inian Islands

null

Another bright & early day on the boat waking at 4:30 a.m. to find that it was already light outside. Not wanting to waste a minute of sight seeing time, I threw on some warm clothes, grabbed a mug of tea and my camera, and went out on deck to watch as we pulled into Idaho Inlet. On this day we spent the morning doing open kayaking and a guided shore walk with Marika and our fellow passengers. In the afternoon we pulled up anchor and made our way to the Inian Islands. The weather turned a bit from what we'd previously experienced, so we got quite wet on our late afternoon skiff ride with Alex to see sea lions, sea gulls, and a whale before returning back to the boat for dinner.

It was a great trip for all sorts of different activity levels. I don't know that you'd be able to do the hikes, but the shore walks would have been fine, as would the skiff rides. Not sure about getting in and out of the kayak, but there was plenty to see and do without all the exercise associated with the "active" part of the trip. My understanding is that the "luxury" version of the trip does less activity, and more talks and whatnot.
