GARDENING AT THE CASA

We planted the garden yesterday which was a huge accomplishment. Usually we're really late getting everything in and then we don't get a good harvest until late September, well after everyone else has finished their summer gardening. We were actually worried that we were late this year but the lady at the nursery said they'd just put the tomatoes out last weekend, so it looks like we're actually right on time for once. This year we planted:

6 tomatoes (Purple Cherokee, Big Beef, Brandywine, Borghese, Sweet 100s, and some other heirloom variety I can't remember)
cauliflower
cucumbers
kale
collard greens
zucchini
a variety of lettuces
lemon thyme
mint
oregano
sage
strawberries

Some of this is completely new to us so we'll see how it goes. It just feels good to get it done.

Oh, and we also planted a wisteria vine at the back of our yard where Alan and his dad moved the gazebo to several weeks ago. Our yard actually looks large and useable for once in a very long time. We're going to bring out our hammock, maybe put in a fire pit, and maybe put down some pavers in the gazebo to make it a flat, usable space. But yeah, it looks so much better than it ever has and it feels like a big accomplishment to get this far.
