FIREPLACE - DONE!

Things aren't all doom and gloom here at the casa. For instance, I finished the fireplace - all by myself! I love it.

I need to take a picture of the whole room with my regular camera so you can see all the touches of white that make the room come together and feel unified and cohesive.

All we need to do is hang a couple of photos in here and then the room will be done.

  1. Looks great!  You know, when you were asking for opinions about this, I commented that I had done a white fireplace with dark wood around (one of the few, most people said don't), and you asked for a photo... which I completely meant to send, and, well, there you have it.  Sorry I flaked, and I'm glad you forged ahead with your own vision anyway!  It really looks good, and a lot like mine, actually so maybe you didn't need the photo anyway!

  2. Thanks anyhow Mary! And thanks for the positive feedback.

I'm actually surprised we got this done so quickly. Usually we put a project on our list and it stays there for at least a year before we even start thinking about it. But I hated that brick so, so much.

  7. Oh. My. Gosh. This is my first time visiting your blog and I'm floored by your Craftsman mantel and built in! Craftsmans are one of my favourite styles of home. Beautiful!

  11. Hahaha. (Wendy here.) I was just about to start typing that I love your mantel, but that I couldn't help but thinking how lovely 4-legged family member looked in the room. I guess Alex beat me to the punch. :-)
