ART IN THE KITCHEN

I'm definitely going to paint a chalkboard feature wall in the kitchen at some point this spring. I've been debating whether or not to keep my food images or replace them with updated ones or something different. I thought I had decided to update them with more recent food-and-drink related images from our various vacations until I saw these pictures on etsy, and now I'm obsessed.

So much love.

I'm probably artistic enough to attempt to do something similar, and then if it doesn't work out I can buy from the artist. I'm torn though since it'd basically be copying the work. Still, I doubt mine would look anywhere as good and it's not like I'm going to try to sell them. And isn't that what Pinterest challenges are for? Attempting to do something ourselves that we saw online and admired. What do you think?

  1. Those art works are definitely conversation pieces! If you are concerned about copying the work, I would buy them and have peace of mind.

  2. i have seen these drawings done many different ways :). using a concept and morphing it into your own design isn't copying in a bad form (in my opinion!). on the other hand, these are so cool and if i TRIED to recreate them, it would not be something i would want to hang up, so i would probably buy them :)

  3. I think I might try a watercolor & marker version and see how it looks. I think the pig would be easiest.
