MAUI - DAY 4

Our 10th wedding anniversary.

The only real plan we had for the day was to head up to Lahaina for the Old Lahaina Luau, which is where we went with our wedding guests the night of our wedding. For the rest of the day, we were free to hang out and just relax.

On our way to the luau we stopped in the center of town so that Alan could visit his favorite tree in the world, the giant banyan that sits in the courthouse square.

Since we first went to the Old Lahaina Luau, we've been to a couple others and haven't enjoyed them nearly as much. In fact, if you're thinking of going to the luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Oahu, I would encourage you not to. It's sooo cheesy, and it's huge. There is nothing intimate or lovely about it at all. We disliked it so much we left early. But this luau? Just lovely. And the food is pretty darn good too, which is hard to find with luau food. And the sunset was just spectacular! We didn't glimpse any whales breaching this time off shore, but the experience was one I'm definitely glad we chose to repeat.
