SALT DOUGH ORNAMENTS FAIL

So, I tried making those salt dough ornaments I posted a bit ago. I attempted to make the stamped version because they were gorgeous. I failed miserably. In the end I scrapped half of them and then just started painting the rest. It looks like a child did them. So disappointing. Next time I'm doodling on them with pen after they come out of the oven.
